A barndominium can cost less per square foot than a stick-built house because the structure is simpler and the spans are wider. That only holds up if the inside is done right, which is the part most people get wrong and we do not.

Around Porter, New Caney, Splendora, Cleveland and Dayton, a lot of the good land sits outside any city, where metal buildings are normal and welcome. That is exactly where a barndominium makes sense: room to spread out, county or MUD permitting, and a durable exterior that shrugs off Texas weather. We have permitted and passed inspections across Montgomery and Liberty County.

What is a barndominium?
A barndominium is a home built on a metal or steel-frame building shell, the barn-style form, finished inside to the same standard as a traditional house. People build them for the wide clear spans, the durable metal exterior, and the option to put living space and a shop or garage under one roof.
Do you really finish them like a custom home?
Yes. The shell is where a barndominium saves money; the finish is where it becomes a home. We build them with the same spray-foam envelope, engineered foundation, real cabinetry, tile, flooring and trim we put in our custom homes. A barndo done cheaply looks cheap, and we do not build them that way.
Where do barndominiums make the most sense?
On acreage outside city limits, which is most of the land around Porter, Splendora, New Caney, Cleveland, Dayton and the county areas of Montgomery and Liberty County. Metal buildings and shops are common and accepted there, permitting runs through the county or a MUD, and the wide lots suit the form.
Can you build the shop and the house together?
Yes, and that is one of the best reasons to build a barndominium. We plan the living space, the garage and the shop as one structure so the whole thing is engineered, insulated and permitted together instead of bolted on later.
